Located in Gulf of Thailand, Phu Quoc, which is praised as a ‘Pearl Island’ of Vietnam, is endowed with many beautiful beaches and natural landscapes. It is a must-see place if you have a chance to visit Southern Vietnam.
Why Phu Quoc?
The irresistible feature of Phu Quoc is white sand along the coastline, particularly Truong Beach (Bai Truong). Kem Beach, Sao Beach and Ganh Dau Beach are also poetic destinations for relaxing along the seashore and enjoying stunning sunset.
There are many high-end hospitality services available in Phu Quoc, especially luxury resorts such as Mercure Phu Quoc Resort & Villas situated in Truong Beach and Novotel Phu Quoc offering sea-facing balconies. Moreover, with the abundance in aquatic diversity, you can experience many exotic activities in your vacation in Phu Quoc, for example, diving the coral reefs, night squid fishing, cycling along the beach and kayaking in the bay.
Best time to visit Phu Quoc?
The peak season in Phu Quoc is from November to March when the average temperature is about 31 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, it is fine to visit Phu Quoc in the early April or the late October, as they are the beginning and the end of rainy season respectively. These are low season period when you can enjoy excellent hospitality services at reasonable prices. However, we do not recommend the time from July to September as this island will be negatively affected by monsoon storms.
2. Vung Tau
Vung Tau
125 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau is a perfect getaway after exploring the hustle and bustle Sai Gon. Vung Tau is pleasantly given the name ‘The Beach City’ due to its elegant and romantic seascapes.
Why Vung Tau?
Back Beach (Bai Sau) is the most beautiful beach in Vung Tau and the only beach suitable for swimming. The other beaches such as Mulberry Beach (Bai Dau), Pineapple Beach (Bai Dua) and Front Beach (Bai Truoc) are dangerous with plenty of rocks. Instead of swimming, tourists can take photographs or walk along these beaches.
Hospitality services are highly developed in Vung Tau. You can find many restaurants, hotels, resorts, bars and clubs there. Seafood in Vung Tau such as lobster, squid and crab is absolutely fresh and of high Ho Tram Beach. If you want to experience entire tranquility, Ho Tram, which is 30 kilometers from Vung Tau, is more suitable for you with many resorts such as The Grand Ho Tram Strip and Ho Tram Beach Boutique Resort & Spa. Ho Tram Beach is safer for swimmers with ideal depth and gentle waves.
Best time to visit Vung Tau?
The ideal time to visit Vung Tau is from November to April when dry season comes. From May to October, it rains all day long and the heat becomes unbearable.
3. Con Dao
Con Dao
Con Dao is an archipelago with a system of 16 islands of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. 185 kilometers from Vung Tau, this is a unique destination for your holiday.
Why Con Dao?
When the French colonized Vietnam, Con Dao was known as a prison island for political prisoners. Nowadays, thanks to its striking features, Con Dao is a must-visit place when it comes to beach vacations in Vietnam. Some lovely beaches in Con Dao can be named: An Hai Beach, Lo Voi Beach, Dat Doc Beach, Ong Dung Beach and Dam Trau Beach. There are not as many resorts in Con Dao as Vung Tau or Nha Trang. Six Sense Con Dao is the only 5-star resort there.
Swimming, snorkeling and diving the coral reefs are activities to do in Con Dao’s beaches. However, if you are a ‘mountain person’, you can go trekking and wildlife-watching in Con Dao National Park. Con Dao Museum is worth visiting if you want to understand how Vietnamese prisoners have been treated and tortured during the war.
